Summer Love

One thing that's really big for this summer is the color white.  I've seen it in Teen Vogue of course, but also countless other fashion magazines.  My favorite spread is one in Teen Vogue with Dave Franco and Laura Love as models. It's literally amazing...I look at it everyday!  Not only are the clothes cute, but Dave's not too bad either.  I could only find a couple pictures from the spread, but if you have the magazine, take a second look at it!

Also, this week I have an AP World Exam (eek!), a research paper to write, and finals in two weeks.  I'll be pretty busy, but hopefully in the summer I can write a lot more because I'll have more free time.

Ahh!  It's Henry Holland and his collection!

Alexander McQueen.  These shoes are completley and 100% amazing!

Another summer trend I like is patterns on patterns.  Something super different from the all white look?  Yeah, for sure.  But do I like it?  No doubt!  I guess I'll just have to fill my closet with both looks.

I found this collage on the Fashion Allure website.  It really catches the pattern on pattern idea that's going to be popular this summer.

New York City

I recently went to New York City for my birthday with my dad, my friend, and her dad.  We had so much fun, despite the intense wind and rain on Saturday.  My friend and I spent a whole day shopping, just us, and navigated our way through the busy city.  Surprisingly, we never even got lost.  We shopped along 5th Avenue, went to Dylan's Candy Bar, and then walked down to the Plaza Hotel to visit the Eloise store.  Something that was really fun was bargining in China Town--although it was poruing and busy, we still managed to have a good time making deals.  It was all so much fun and I wish I was there right now!  Our hotel had an amzing view of Ground Zero, and even though I've been to the city countless times, this was the first time I'd seen it from up high looking down.  There's always something new and exciting to do everytime you come to New York even if you've been a thousand times.  Here are just a few of the 300 pictures I took in just 3 days...I know, thats a lot of pictures. :)
Amazing gelato!

Here's the amazing Ground Zero view from our hotel.

Great Minds Think Alike

This morning I was reading my April issue of Teen Vogue when I noticed something really cool!  I was flipping through the magazine when I came to an article titled "Fit For a Queen".  And guess what?  I just did a blog with the exact same title last week.  The Teen Vogue article was about Kate's fashion choices and Daniella Helayel, the designer for Issa.  It included the exact same picture that I did of Kate at the Boodles Boxing Ball in a pink Issa dress!  I was so shocked, but it was actually really cool to see.

Mad for Madden Anyone?

Yesterday morning I woke up, and had no idea what to do.  I stepped outside of my room and went into the family room in search of something to do, so I turned on the TV and looked for something good to watch.  And let me tell you, there was literally not one show on that looked good, so I clicked over to my recordings and decided to pick a movie.  The movie I decided on was The Last Song.  I'd still never seen the movie, so I decided to watch it.
The Last Song.
It was actually really good and I liked it a lot.  My favorite part of it, of course, was the casual ensembles that Miley wore throughout the movie.  I really liked the casual beach style and layers.

I especially liked the dress that she wore to Will's brother's wedding--it looked like something out of the Betsy Johnson S/S 2011 collection!
Something I really liked, though, was the combat boots she wore.
I liked them so much, that I though I had to have a pair.  I was looking for some last winter, but never found the right pair.  This year, I came across Steve Madden the shoe god.  I found these gorgeous boots that I absolutely had to have!  I went online, and they are being shipped to my house this very second.

Although I hate that it's snowing here when it's practically April, I'm happy I will still have some time to wear these boots with jeans until I have to make the transition to jean shorts and flowery dresses.

Fit For a Queen

Kate Middleton probably has some of the best fashion sense ever. I love her classy looks, (cue the big hats and heels) and her street style is equally stunning. I'm looking forward to seeing which designer she will pick to design her wedding dress for the Royal Wedding, and I can't wait to see what it looks like too!

MERCEDES-BENZ FASHION WEEK NEW YORK

Haven't you always dreamed of going to Fashion Week? That's my ultimate goal, to go to Fashion Week. It seems so exciting and fun to attend because of the fast-pace and, of course, the clothes! Of course I'd never sit front row (but a girl can hope!), but if I got a job in the industry I wouldn't mind sitting so far back that I could barley see the models! It would be totally worth it to just say to people that I'm attending the world famous Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week!!! I could see all my favorite models like Karlie Kloss, Frida Gustavsson, Ali Stephens, Katie Fogarty, and Chanel Iman. I could see my favorite writers from Teen Vogue like Jane Keltner de Valle, Eva Chen, and Andrew Bevan! Ahhh...Fashion Week.

Here's a clip I found on YouTube of the Tommy Hilfiger Spring/Summer 2011 show. I love the colors and the whole collection looks very preppy and summer-y. And guess who's modeling? Karlie Kloss! I didn't even know she would be in it when I started watching the video, so I was excited to see she was part of such a great show. The runway set up is really cool, too. It seems like it's supposed to go from sunrise, to midday, to sunset. It's different than the usual black runway. I also liked how you can see what goes on behind the scenes at the start of all the videos. The shoes and outfit at :45 is really cute; I like the blue and navy paired together. Jourdan Dunn's sparkly navy shorts at 1:08 are to die for, and the shoes that I like are also shown again at 1:23. It's definitely worth watching!

We all know that Betsy Johnson is famous for her crazy, bright, and out spoken style, and this Spring 2011 show is just that. The brightly clad models walking the runway don't look like your average models. Their walks don't include the typical hand on the hip or solemn stare, but fierce stomps and wild poses. The models look like they're having a lot of fun...not that models in other shows aren't having fun, but you can actually tell that they're having fun. The black dress at 1:19 is a little too crazy for me, because if you wore that somewhere, no one could get close enough to talk to you! The pink and red dress at 1:47 is ah-dorable! I love how flowy it is...hmmm, maybe I can keep that in mind for Homecoming next year! The sheer and lace trends have been combined into one dress at 1:53. All the fairy tale dresses and the glitter at the end are amazing; my favorite one is the colorful dress at 2:17.

My Favorites

Hi everyone!  I've finally done it; I'm starting a blog!  I've always wanted to do this, and today I thought to myself, "Why am I not doing it?  Why have I been waiting?" So today, I sat down at the table with the windows open, and started my blog on a warm (but pollen-y) day in March, ready to enter the world of fashion, Spring 2011 style.  Here are some of my favorite pictures, models, designers, and Spring 2011 trends!

The wrap...I think it's catching on!
What's not to love about Henry Holland?
It wouldn't be a blog without a Twiggy picture!   This is one of my favorites.
Anna Sui's Spring 2011.  I feel like Frida Gustavsson is everywhere I look!
Love these colors.
I've always loved this picture from an old Teen Vogue, especially the turquoise Chip + Pepper shorts!  The color's amazing!
I love Veruschka, and this dress.  (Doesn't she look like Allison from Pretty Little Liars here?)
Karlie Kloss in her Spring 2010 Hermes campaign.  She is my absolute FAVORITE model!
