Videos Galore

A lot of the Fashion Week videos I've been looking at lately have really bad quality, so until I find a great show with great quality, here are some random videos for your very own entertainment from yours truly :)  They're some of my favorites.

I watch these videos constantly in my free time...check out Megan's channel (meganheartsmakeup or meganjuliaparken) on YouTube!  She gives makeup tutorials and shares her thoughts on fashion.  I decided to share this one because she's in NYC, aka my favorite place ever!

Bryanboy and others at Peter Som!

AMAZING VIDEO. NO WORDS. Okay, I do have some words.  This is Danny Roberts of the blog Igor + Andre. And this is my favorite picture.  I got two of his paintings (and they're signed...eek!) for my birthday and am currently in the process of finding some frames for them.  When they're up I'll post a picture and then send Danny a message with high hopes of a reply :)

So this one doesn't really have to do with fashion.  Actually, it doesn't have to do with fashion at all, but it's just SO cool and this guy is just SO talented that I had to share it!  He's dancing naturally (is that the right word?) to the Dubstep remix of Pumped up Kicks by Foster the People...and he dances exactly to the beat. It's truly awesome.

Being Different Makes the Difference

Here's my latest blog on lhsimage.com :)
I know everyone thinks they’re different, unique and expressive in their style, but in reality, they’re not.  If you think about what girls wear at our school, I’m sure everyone would have the same answers.  Leggings and Uggs, Sperrys, t-shirts and jeans, etc.  I’ll even admit I fall into this category sometimes because I don’t feel like planning an elaborate and trendy outfit.
But hopefully, that can change.  Being different doesn’t consist of wearing the same old thing that everyone else wears and shopping where everyone else shops.  It means branching out and wearing something you personally think looks good and not what looks good on other people.  It means trying out new patterns, colors and fabrics and not sticking to the basics.
So, to solve this problem, when you get dressed for school in the morning don’t think about what others are going to think about your outfit.  You’re overlooking who matters most when picking out an outfit–yourself.
It’s not a bad thing to go along with current trends, because that’s why trends are there, to be followed.  But if you want to take part in a trend, make it your own.  Accessorize your ensemble unlike anyone else to make it truly different and trendy.
Personal style expresses who you are, and if everyone dresses the exact same, how can anyone be noticed at all?
...
SOOO anyway...that's just my opinion. But if you think about it, it's totally true right?  On another note, I've been kinda reallyyy obsessed with Bryan Boy lately; his tweets just get to me.  He's funny and fashionable at the same time...double win! :D He made me obsessed with menswear...
Also, Valentine's Day is quickly approaching!  And if I don't have someone to spend it with, oh well, I can always spend it with my unconditionally loving fashion magazines. :)

Tecnica Moon Boots?

I know fashion is "out there," but this is just crazy.  Who knew moon boots would be making a comeback? Well, maybe they won't be making a comeback if everyone else has the same opinion as I do.  I cannot stand them...thankfully, I've never actually seen anyone in them; I've only seen them in ads.  Who would wear them in public, let alone your own house?  I first saw the outrageous Tecnica boots in the winter 2011 Nordstrom magazine, but I can't for the life of me find the magazine.  Even the girls in the ad looked like they didn't want to be wearing them.  They just looked so clunky and huge--and they definitely don't match anything.  Another thing that shocked me about the boots was their price: $139.99 for the boots pictured below.  (The ad from Nordstrom's website is similar to the one in the magazine.)

I just think the price is a little too much for what you're actually getting--a clunky, shiny boot with tassles...yuck.  Let's just hope I don't see anyone around St. Louis sporting these crazy moon boots!

Photo Shoot

I've been gone for a while, because I'm writing for my school newspaper, and that takes up A LOT of time.  But I've decided to come back to my fashion blog because it's fun and I don't have to worry about being proper all the time.  Example: I could never write a :) in one of my newspaper articles, and that's no fun!  I've also been writing for online, which is a lot of fun because I have a little bit more freedom.  I write a fashion blog called St. Louie Style (oh, what a coincidence?).  To read some of what I wrote, visit www.lhsimage.com :D

About a month or so ago, my friend Laynie Henning took some photography shots of my friend Meggie and I.  They're absolutely AMAZING :) She's definitely the best photographer I know, and I'm so glad I had the opportunity to work with such a talented girl!  She even has her own business, Alayna Henning Photography. Visit her at laynie96.deviantart.com Here are some shots (or a lot...they're all so good) from the photo shoot. Be sure to pay attention to the scenery because its tres gorgeous!

I love this one.

My grandma's old rings she gave me.

The color in this one is so amazing!

Wishing you whale...(:

Meggie!

I love this shirt from Forever 21!

Best friends (:
I'm not really that much taller than her; we were on a hill.

Colors Colors Colors

Just an idea for an outfit for the first day of school... I can't believe I have to start thinking about that already!  I like the colors together and the gold from the bracelet and the belt buckle.  I was thinking about pairing it with my Steve Madden boots...hmmm, but I'm not sure.  Would a summer-y flip-flop look better?

Haha, sorry about the peace sign, but this pic was the clearest.

Don't you love the shirt's pattern?

Here's the detail on the top of the shirt.

My Juicy Couture charm bracelet!
Hmmm...
